Terms of Service

The short version: Tippin is a simple, honest tool. Pay once, use it forever. No subscriptions, no ads, no nonsense.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading or using Tippin ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App. These Terms apply to all users of the App.

2. Description of the Service

Tippin is a mobile application for iOS and Android that helps users calculate tips and split bills. Key features include:

Tip calculation with customisable percentages and pre-tax toggle
Bill splitting with per-person amount adjustment
Receipt scanning using on-device text recognition
Result sharing

The App is developed and maintained by KSE Labs ("Developer"), an independent developer based in South Africa.

3. In-App Purchases

Tippin is free to try. Full access requires a one-time purchase ("Tippin Unlock") processed through Apple App Store or Google Play.

One-time purchase: You pay once and own access to all current and future features permanently — no subscription
No refunds by the Developer: All purchases are processed by Apple or Google. Refund requests must be submitted to the respective platform in accordance with their refund policies
Restore purchases: If you reinstall the App or switch devices, you can restore your purchase for free using the "Already unlocked? Restore" option in the App
Price: The current price is displayed in the App before purchase. Prices are set in your local currency by the platform and may vary by region

4. Free Trial

Tippin may offer a free trial period allowing you to use the App before purchasing. At the end of the free trial, access to premium features requires purchasing the unlock. The Developer reserves the right to modify or discontinue the free trial at any time.

5. User Conduct

You agree not to:

Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
Use the App for any unlawful purpose
Attempt to circumvent the in-app purchase system
Copy, distribute, or create derivative works from the App without permission

6. Accuracy of Calculations

Tippin is a convenience tool. While we strive for accuracy, tip and split calculations are provided as estimates only. Always verify totals independently before making payment decisions. The Developer is not responsible for financial decisions made based on the App's output.

7. Camera and On-Device Processing

When you use the receipt scanning feature, the App accesses your camera or photo library. All image processing is performed entirely on your device. No images or text are transmitted to any server. You grant the App permission to access your camera and photos solely for this purpose, and you can revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.

8. Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, code, graphics, and copy, is owned by KSE Labs and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Your purchase grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the App on devices you own or control.

9. Disclaimers

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. The Developer does not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of viruses.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, KSE Labs shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the App, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App.

11. Updates and Availability

The Developer may release updates to the App from time to time. We are not obligated to provide updates. The Developer reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the App at any time without notice. In the event of discontinuation, no refunds will be issued for prior purchases unless required by applicable law.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of South Africa.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
